Boxing: Luis Quionez: Colombian boxer has died after horror knock out

Various complications led to the Colombian boxer Luis Quiñonez being declared brain dead, after his previous Saturday's fight in which he was knocked out by Jose Munoz at the Elias Chegwin Coliseum.
It has now been reported the Quiñonez sadly passed away on Thursday night. Even Colombia's president Gustavo Petro lamented the young boxer's untimely death. He tweeted: "Watching a young filled ith dreams and a whole future ahead of him leave this plan hurts. My thoughts and prayers are with the fmaily of Luis Quiñonez, I deeply regret this difficult moment they are going through."

The Colombian Boxing Federation made known on its social networks that the Bucaramanga boxer had passed away after a five-day fight, since he was knocked out.
"We regret the sensitive passing of the boxer Luis Quiñonez after fighting for his life for 5 days, unfortunately he lost that battle, we express our most sincere condolences to all his family. Peace in his grave and resignation to the designs of God", published the Colombian Boxing Federation.
This information was denied by people from the Clínica General del Norte, in Barranquilla, stating that the athlete was still fighting for his life, but in critical condition.
The Fecolbox clarified it, but confirmed the brain death
Afterwards, the Fecolbox clarified the situation that the Colombian pugilist is living and assured that they hope for a miracle that will allow Quiñonez to stay alive.
"We allow ourselves to clarify that the athlete Luis Quiñonez is brain dead, he has not yet died, we apologize to his family and we are still clinging to a miracle," the organization published.
The fighter collapsed in the last of the eight rounds of the scheduled fight for the national junior welterweight title. After an exchange of punches, he stopped throwing punches, fell to the canvas and no longer regained consciousness. He was soon removed on a stretcher and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit with a guarded medical prognosis.
At the hospital and after undergoing surgery, it was reported that Quiñonez remained in an induced coma, with a "very guarded prognosis for life and function with high morbimortality", which his relatives had been informed. However, he sadly was pronounced dead on Thursday night.
